What you get

Skills you can run by name. Assistant tasks also work from plain requests.

  • /pinecone:help
  • /pinecone:quickstart
  • /pinecone:query
  • /pinecone:assistant
  • /pinecone:full-text-search
  • /pinecone:cli
  • /pinecone:mcp
  • /pinecone:docs
  • /pinecone:n8n

Before you start

  • A Pinecone account and API key, exported as PINECONE_API_KEY before you start Claude Code.
  • Node.js, since the MCP server runs through npx.
  • uv, for the Assistant skills.
  • Optional: the Pinecone CLI (pc).

Try saying

>Create a Pinecone assistant from my docs

Claude creates an Assistant and uploads your files to it with the plugin's scripts. Then you can ask it questions and get cited answers.

Worth knowing

At each session start and resume, a hook checks whether PINECONE_API_KEY is set and whether the Pinecone CLI is installed, and shows a short status line. On your first Pinecone request Claude calls list-indexes to confirm the key works. Set PINECONE_SKIP_AUTH_CHECK=1 to turn the check off.

Assistant uploads and syncs send your local files to Pinecone. Sync can also delete files from the assistant that no longer exist locally, and asks before applying changes unless told to skip that.
