Claude finds the root cause before fixing
For any bug, test failure or odd behavior, Claude investigates first and proposes no fix until it knows why the problem happens. No guessing, no stacked quick fixes.

How it works
Investigate
Read the whole error, reproduce it reliably, check recent changes and trace the bad value back to where it starts.
Compare
Find similar code that works and list every difference from the broken code, however small.
Test one theory
State a single hypothesis and test it with the smallest possible change, one variable at a time.
Fix
Write a failing test that reproduces the bug, make one fix at the root, then check nothing else broke.
What you get
Three supporting techniques ship with the skill, for deep call stacks, layered checks and flaky timing.
- root-cause-tracing
- defense-in-depth
- condition-based-waiting
When it kicks in
- Test failures
- Production bugs
- Unexpected behavior
- Performance problems
- Build failures
- Integration issues
It matters most under time pressure, when a quick fix looks obvious, or when an earlier fix didn't work.
Try saying
Claude reads the full error, reproduces the failure and checks what changed before it suggests anything. If three fixes in a row fail, it stops and asks you whether the design itself is the problem.
Worth knowing
Installing the Superpowers plugin also brings brainstorming's optional visual companion. Its logo loads from Prime Radiant's website along with your Superpowers version number, nothing about your project or prompts. Set SUPERPOWERS_DISABLE_TELEMETRY (or Claude Code's DISABLE_TELEMETRY) to turn it off.
Comes with Superpowers
This skill ships inside the Superpowers plugin, so you get its other 14 skills too.
